Hybrid Power

A basic hybrid power system combines a PV solar system with a combination of a gas powered generator, wind power, and possibly utility power. These systems can be utilized with or without battery back-up batteries. The hybrid system is the best of both worlds and can provide uninterruptable power no matter what is going on around you.

The simplest solution is to add an automatic backup generator with a manual transfer switch to the basic PV solar system. When the grid goes down the PV system will stop providing power to the house loads. The transfer switch directs the source of power for critical loads from the utility to the generator. During a power outage the transfer switch is operated and the generator is started which provides power to the primary loads in the house.
